ABOUT CHAPTERS: A HAIKAVEH ZINE
Chapters is a fanzine featuring the relationship between Alhaitham and Kaveh from Genshin Impact through the years. We'll be featuring a variety of artists and writers to bring this project to life, across both SFW and NSFW zines.WHAT'S A ZINE?
A zine, or fanzine, is short for 'fan magazine'. It's a collection of fan-created content about a particular topic, eventually printed and sold as a physical book. There may be merch items for sale with the book(s)! In this case, the zine's topic is Haikaveh, and we will have a variety of merch items with it.HOW DOES IT WORK?
Step one is gathering creators via an application process. While we'd love to take every passionate Haikaveh creator, the limitations of a physical book mean that this isn't feasible, so we'll have to do an application. You'll get more info about this nearer the time.
Then we enter a creation phase, where artists and writers create their works.
Copies of the zine are then sold on a preorder basis. We wait to see how many we have sold before producing the items, so there is a delay between production and delivery.
After a few months, you'll get your items!IS THIS SHIP HAIKAVEH ONLY/DYNAMIC-SPECIFIC?
This zine is Haikaveh-specific, i.e. we will only be permitting allowing content where Alhaitham tops and Kaveh bottoms in NSFW situations.HOW MANY CONTRIBUTORS WILL YOU HAVE?
At least 30 artists and 6 writers for SFW, and at least 20 artists and 5 writers for NSFW. We anticipate around 4 merch artists.HOW DOES THE 'CHAPTERS' THEME WORK?
The theming is meant to represent how Alhaitham and Kaveh have distinct eras (chapters) of their lives; their joint project and subsequent drift apart, reconciling in the current era in-game, and their subsequent life together. We will be ensuring to feature art and fics from all of these eras, in order.
The theme is less strict for the NSFW portion, but we will still be looking to feature a variety of different content.WILL THIS ZINE FEATURE POETS?
If we receive poet applications we will consider them.WILL THIS ZINE FEATURE COSPLAYERS?
No, based off the results of the IC we will not be featuring any cosplayers.IS THIS ZINE FOR PROFIT OR CHARITY?

APPLICATION GUIDELINES

ARTISTS
• All submissions must be completed, fully rendered works to be considered.
• At least one sample should include what you consider to be a detailed background. All other samples should include simple backgrounds (fully rendered, no flats or gradients).
• All works should include characters/humans
• If applying to as a NSFW artist at least one sample needs to be NSFW.
_______________________MERCH ARTISTS
• All submissions must be completed, fully rendered works to be considered.
• Samples provided should be designs of previously created merch items or works that could be made into merch (eg. charms/stickers/pins/etc.). These samples aren’t required to have a background
• If you are interested in contributing a print, 1 sample must be a fully rendered piece with a detailed background.• Both Artist and Merch Artist applications should include a portfolio that contains a minimum of 5 samples or 5 samples linked individually.
_______________________WRITERS
Writing applicants for the SFW zine only must submit three sample pieces that best represent the style they would like to use for the zine if accepted.
Each sample must:
• be at most 3000 words in length
• be linked as a google doc or through another anonymous method, not an ao3 link or similarWithin your three samples, you must be able to demonstrate at least one example of both:
• a complete narrative within 3000 words (i.e. at least one of your samples must be a complete, self-contained story. The others can be samples if you prefer)
• a story which features Alhaitham or Kaveh, or both (but all three of your samples can feature them if you prefer!)*NSFW samples are permitted for SFW-only applications.For writers applying to the NSFW zine only, the guidelines are largely the same. The differences are:
• your maximum sample length is 4000, not 3000
• you must provide at least one E-rated fic in your three samples (but extras are appreciated)If you are applying to the SFW and NSFW zine, you will have one additional sample slot. This is to allow you to showcase both SFW and NSFW content and ensure we can benchmark your application against other applicants fairly.Pleaese note if you apply for both SFW and NSFW zines, we will only be able to offer you one slot.
_______________________POETS
Poet applicants are for the SFW zine only. Applicants must submit three sample pieces that best represent the style they would like to use for the zine if accepted. At least two of the sample pieces must be a completed poem.
Each sample must:
• be linked as a google doc or through another anonymous method, not an ao3 link or similar
Within your three samples, you must be able to demonstrate at least one example of both:
• a complete poem within 250 words
• a completed work which is Genshin-themed (this is appreciated but not mandatory!)
_______________________All applicants will also have the opportunity to provide a wider portfolio of work. This is not mandatory, and will only be used in the event of needing a tiebreaker; it will not be taken into account otherwise. If you wish to send one, this portfolio should contain up to 3 additional pieces of work that you think represent you as a writer. This must be presented in the form of a google drive folder or similar (this drive folder can also hold your samples, for ease), not an ao3 profile - we won't be able to dig through people's entire ao3 accounts to try and get a sense of how you write._______________________TO ALL APPLICANTS: Please do not be put off if any of this is confusing - the form has clear instructions to ensure you put the right things in the right places in the application. Please note that the mods will not be chasing up any missing or invalid google documents/other links - the responsibility is on you to ensure that you have turned the correct permissions on to allow other people to view your files.Applicants should be 18 years of age or over by July 31st, 2023.
